Abstract Text:
A hybrid fluid-kinetic theoretical framework for studying large-amplitude fluctuations in the edge of tokamak plasmas is presented.
This framework is potentially suitable for both pedestal and scrape-off-layer simulations, including both Alfvenic and drift wave dynamics.
The relationship between this framework and gyrokinetics is discussed, and the possiblity of matching boundary conditions at the pedestal top explored.
Simlarly, suitable boundary conditions for use in the open-field-line region are discussed.
